Contest Brief

We have a working website here www.weathertofly.net.

We'd like to redesign a responsive mobile/tablet and desktop version of the site using 'Material Design' principles. We've written a specification document and given examples of mobile and desktop versions and the transitions and animations that we want. If in doubt, you should refer to Design guidelines to be used can be found here ([url removed, login to view])

A second document describes our API - you should develop your code towards our API so that your website functions in the same way as the existing site.

The successful contestant will have delivered working and responsive versions of both mobile and desktop websites and include documentation to allow us to maintain and develop the site further in the future.

A bonus will be awarded for more cool ideas that conform to Material Design principals that we haven't thought of. Be creative - but only within Material Design please!

Employer Feedback

“It's been a real pleasure working with Jude. He interpreted my specification really well and went the extra mile with communication of progress during the contest - that made it an easy for me to make minor changes on the way so it was a simple decision for me to accept his winning entry. I would have no hesitation in recommending Jude.”

There was no time left to create functional demo, but I added some entries from very early mockup to demonstrate my ability and interest.

If you are testing towards our live API, you may see '0' flights returned with some queries, if so, please change the parameters (outbound, return, flight duration) until you find a combination with results.

We are quite happy with the way dates and times are entered on the existing demo website so you could use a similar approach for these two functions in your designs.

Yes, you may use the live API to build your site. If there is any ambiguity over how animations can work together please refer to Material Design guidelines and use your own judgement as to how best to apply transitions etc. Thanks

Could you kindly explain page 5 in UPDATED Weathertofly redesign.pdf better?
You refer to a lot of animations, but they cannot be used together?

Hi all, when you test www.weathertofly.net, please be aware that you can select dates up to 16 days in the future as that is how far the weather forecasts are available.
