# NexBrix Mobile App — Timesheet Screen Redesign
### Freelancer.com Design Contest Brief
## About NexBrix
NexBrix is hospitality operations software built for cafés, restaurants, takeaway shops, food trucks, and small/growing hospitality groups. It covers staff rostering and timesheets, stock counts, purchasing, deliveries, and reporting — built to be the day-to-day operating system for busy, time-poor hospitality owners.
## The Brief
We're looking for a fresh mobile app design that feels **modern, minimalistic, and premium**. The current screen (attached) does the job functionally, but it tries to fit too much onto one screen and ends up feeling crowded and dated. We want a redesign that keeps everything just as simple and easy to use, but presents it with much more breathing room and visual polish.
You have full creative freedom on layout and style — we're not looking for a like-for-like reskin, we're looking for your best thinking on how this experience should work and feel.
## The Problem With the Current Design
The attached screenshot shows our current "Enter Timesheet" screen. On this one screen we currently cram in:
- Weekly summary (total hours, copy previous week)
- Search and week navigation
- A fully expanded daily entry form (day off toggle, business, location, start/end time, unpaid break, project, notes, daily total)
- A full list of the other six days in the week
- Save status and submit/clear actions
That's a lot of competing information and input fields on one screen, and it reads as busy and overwhelming rather than clean and premium.
## What We're Asking For
Redesign this flow with a **modern, minimalistic, premium look and feel**. You're welcome — and encouraged — to break this single crowded screen into **two or three screens** if that produces a cleaner experience. For example (just one possible approach, not a requirement):
1. A weekly overview screen — days of the week, hours at a glance, quick status per day
2. A daily entry screen — focused on entering/editing one day's timesheet details
3. (Optional) A review/submit screen
We're open to any structure that achieves the goal: **simple, easy to use, and visually premium** rather than dense and functional-looking.
### Must Retain (functionally)
All existing functionality shown in the reference screenshot must still be achievable somewhere in your redesigned flow:
- Mark a day as a day off
- Business and location selection
- Start time / end time entry
- Unpaid break (minutes)
- Project selection
- Notes field
- Per-day and weekly total hours
- Copy previous week
- Search timesheet
- Week navigation (previous/next, "This week")
- Save status indicator
- Submit / Clear all actions
You do not need to keep the same field layout, groupings, or order — only the same underlying capabilities.
## Design Requirements
- **Modern & minimalistic** — generous white space, clear visual hierarchy, no visual clutter
- **Premium feel** — this should look like a polished, professional SaaS product, not a generic form
- **Simple & easy to use** — should be faster and more pleasant to use than the current screen, not just prettier
- **Mobile phone screen only** — not a tablet or desktop layout. Design a single narrow column at a phone viewport of approximately 390×844px (portrait, ~9:19.5 aspect ratio, like a modern iPhone/Android phone) — see the reference screenshot's proportions
- Clean, modern typography and iconography
- Thoughtful use of interaction patterns (e.g. bottom sheets, steppers, cards) if it improves clarity — your call
### Day/Entry Status States
Each day entry needs a clear, distinct visual treatment (colour, badge, icon, etc.) so a user can tell its status at a glance — for example in the weekly overview screen. At minimum, design distinguishable states for:
- **Not eligible** — the day cannot currently be entered (e.g. outside the current pay period, locked)
- **Pending approval** — the day has been submitted and is awaiting manager/admin approval
- **Ready to enter** — the day is open and awaiting the user's input
Use colour plus a secondary cue (icon, label, or pattern) rather than colour alone, so the states remain distinguishable for colour-blind users.
## Brand Guidelines
Please design within our existing brand palette:
- **Black** — primary colour
- **White** — secondary colour
- **Deep Teal `#0A2924`** — third colour
- **Soft Mint Green `#BDEBCF`** — fourth colour, used sparingly as a highlight/accent
- No neon colours, no gradients unless very subtle
You may introduce supporting neutrals (light greys, off-whites) as needed for hierarchy, but please stay within this palette family — no new brand colours.
## Deliverables & Entry Requirements
To keep this a genuine design competition (and not a flood of prompt-generated mockups), entries must meet the following:
- Submit an **editable Figma file** with properly structured components (frames, layers, and reusable components — not a flattened image or a single un-editable artboard)
- AI tools may be used to **refine or style your own wireframe or low-fidelity draft**, but the design must originate from your own layout/UX thinking — entries that are clearly generated wholesale from a text prompt (AI-generated mockups with no real design process behind them) will be disqualified
- Include all screens in your proposed flow (2–3 screens, as outlined above), showing the full user journey from opening the timesheet to submitting it
- A short note (1–3 sentences) explaining your layout decisions is welcome but optional
## Judging Criteria
Entries will be judged on:
1. **Visual quality** — modern, minimalistic, premium look and feel
2. **Usability & clarity** — is it genuinely simpler and easier to use than the current screen?
3. **Completeness** — does the flow cover all required functionality?
4. **Brand fit** — appropriate use of the NexBrix colour palette
5. **Craft** — quality and structure of the Figma file itself (real components, not a flat mockup)
