Hi, guys! I'm currently swamped and looking to pull in some help designing a book cover for one of my awesome customers. I've read through quite a lot of the manuscript. It's loaded with great content and needs an attractive cover to catch the eye.
The book is essentially about his journey--from serving his country in the army to later becoming multi-platinum singer songwriter and then falling deeply into drug addiction before his faith in Christ helped him find freedom.
The author shared the stage with the likes of Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker and many other prominent artists in the "outlaw" music scene of that time. As a result, the cover should depict some similar design elements and textures common to venue posters and materials in that genre. I've included some pics of what I'm looking for here labeled sample1, 2, etc.
I've also included a couple of pics of the artist for potential use within the design. These are called artist1, artist2.
Upon leaving the music and drug scene, the author became a lumberjack and spent a great deal of time harvesting big timber in the backwoods country of the northwest. This is hard work that requires a lot of grit. So again, we should have some rough, rustic elements that mesh well with the whole outlaw scene.
Finally, we have the element of change in that the author developed a deep and meaningful relationship with God, so although we may not want to represent this with the typical elements such as crosses and bibles, we need to convey a spiritual, illuminating undertone as well. Maybe a point of illumination? Sunburst? Who knows...
I don't want to constrain your ideas too much, but I hope this gives you an idea of general direction.
The complete title of the book will not be disclosed per currently under production. For the sake of this contest, however, let's use the following specs...
* Provisional Title: From Outlaw to Kingdom of God
* Provisional Author: Arthur Artist
* Cover size: 6 x 9"
FYI: We'll obviously be doing some rework and tweaks to the title, etc. after the contest, so I'll need the design to be completed in either Photoshop, Illustrator, Affinity Photo or another mainstream design program.
I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with... :)
