Contest Brief

Hello Designers,

Would you consider having your name listed on a children's book as the illustrator?

As the contest name suggests, I'm writing a book for preteens. The subject of the book isn't necessary at this point. Right now I'm looking to create a character based on my specifications. Pretty easy, right? I think so too.

My book is for preteens, it's an educational book; containing approximately fifty pages or less. However, as long as the character is done in vector, I'll be able to alter/adjust it to use throughout the book, but I'll still need the character in several positions, standing/sitting, etc. If the character is a drawing, that'll be more work for you, the illustrator. The winner of this contest will help illustrate my book, plus cover, for a set price... (you will not be paid any income from book revenue/sales). I think it's only fair to give the illustrator credit where credit's due, right? In doing so you'll be able to refer future potential employers to my book for a reference. Contact information will need to be exchanged for future reference as well. Also, the winner"may or may not" be asked to digitally sign privacy forms and release forms.

Files are needed in: PNG, GIF, BMP, JPG

Ok, now one with my ideas...

*Must be vector in case I need to alter a little
*Character must look like preteen girl
*Blonde hair-(Long)
*Blue eyes (Dark blue)
*Any type of attire
*She has to be facing us (because she'll be "teaching")
*You may have her sitting in a chair, standing alone,
have a decorative background behind her (not flashy-not busy),
or whatever flips your fancy.

Well, that should be enough to get you started. I'm excited to see what you come up with. There will be times that I can check back frequently, while other times not so much. I WILL use the STAR RATING system to give each of you an idea of how you're doing.

Thank you in advance for your hard work and creativity.

With the girl being done in vector I can change her size, which will help with my illustration. In some pages she'll be brought to the "front," while others she won't be. At this point my girl won't "hold" any teaching supplies. She'll be standing alone with her hands crossed in front of her, or with one arm pointing out to the side, or sitting comfortably in a chair.
Again, thank you for all your hard work!

Yes, guessed pretty much that she will be teaching in different postures, but I just chose to draw her holding a slide as an example :)
It would help a lot if you can describe all of the poses to the person who will continue working on the rest of the images after the contest. Then they can draw separately and carefully all of the vector poses needed.

Hello, this is a nice contest that I would love to take part in, since I have experience in vector character drawings. But I am afraid I have to say the $30 prize is very low for a fifty pages book illustration effort, even though the illustrator's name will be credited, it won't compensate :(

    Great work so far!
A couple of points I wanted to bring up...
*It would be easier to rate your work if you submit one picture per submission.
    *Character must have blonde hair
*DON'T spend a lot of time on the background. I'm mainly interested in the character at this point.
*I'm loving the drawings, but is it possible to do it in vector?
If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks again for your hard work.

I'm sorry, I should have mentioned the girl's dress attire should resemble what a young girl might wear to school, for example.
