Process illustration: Illustrate/design a diagram of a process

  • Status: Closed
  • Prize: $400
  • Entries Received: 26

Contest Brief

We have an existing diagram (attached), but it is not sharp enough. We would like to see it enhanced to reflect the "engineering" nature of our company. The diagram is used to illustrate that our investment process has four phases that require specific skills and lead to distinct outcomes. Currently, the imagery is one of a 4-link chain (each representing a phase); however, we are not tied to this because the 4th and final phase can begin prior to the first 3 phases reaching completion. Please see the attached PowerPoint for what the current diagram looks like, and feel free to reach out for further clarification! Looking forward to seeing the submissions!

Just to be abundantly clear: We want this to look like a CAD drawing, not a cartoon. It needs to convey a sense of precision. At the same time, the words are important to the message, so the image cannot overpower them. I can envision it looking like a modern version of a da Vinci sketch: http://cds.cern.ch/record/1157741

11/3: Just uploaded an image of the gear that we use in a later slide.

    Everyone,
Thank you for all the entries! We were truly humbled by the participation and astounded at the level of talent and effort that was displayed during this contest. While I know such a statement offers little consolation for all your hard work, please consider that our company will be in the market for more of this type of work in the near future. Again, thank you for such creative entries.

Hi there, sorry for delayed response... the dimension of the image needs to be similar to the example slide I provided, but at most, it can be no bigger than the tan area of that slide. 3D is okay, but the main thing we need is a representation of the 4 phases (so as long as we have that, then 3D is fine).

Moreover, I understand the fact you want to make everyone understand the contest state, but this would be evident when you have a winner too if it is sealed

can you seal the contest. I want to add a original design but I don't want it to be shown other than you.

The prize isn't guaranteed because we're not willing to award a prize if no entry is better than #2. And we awarded a prize for a previous contest that wasn't guaranteed either. As for sealing: I understand the concern, but this is a competition so I want competitors to know why they did or did not win the prize. Feel free to wait until the last day of the contest to submit.

I also won't provide specific feedback on the Public board. As you'll notice my post for #2 was generic, i.e. I didn't use the Public board to provide a specific critique to that entry.

#2: Closer than #1! But we're hoping to see a slightly different interpretation of the four-phase process than what we already came up with. Or even a complete redevelopment of the chain itself. The slide design is interesting, but we won't be changing anything except for the diagram. Thanks for the entries!

    Hello,
It 's a very interesting contest.
    - About the style: The colors (blue) in your presentation, must be used? Are the colors of your company?
    - About the deliverable: Must be a pptx document? Or Could it be a PNG picture in High resolution?

Also, I think there are some problems with some words in the text.

Thanks for the question, hugolazo. Yes, shades of blue are preferred, but I don't want to restrict it if adding a new color provides a needed contrast. The main concern is that it must look highly sophisticated.

Deliverable: PNG is fine -- we just need to be able to paste the diagram into the slide.
