Rose Image Prep for Etching

Contest Brief

I have a single photograph of a rose that will be laser-etched onto a memorial stone. Before it goes to the engraver I need the artwork cleaned up and supplied in three final forms.

First, please perfect the full-colour version: remove the existing background, correct any colour cast, and sharpen or redraw soft petals so every vein and edge reads crisply at large size.

Second, create a non-colour file optimised for deep-black granite where the rose must appear in light tones against the dark surface.

Third, create a contrasting non-colour file for white or light granite, ensuring the flower cuts in dark and stays legible.

Deliver these as high-resolution PNGs (transparent background) plus an editable vector (AI or SVG) so the stonemason can scale without loss. The monochrome versions should be pure black and white—no greys—so the laser software recognises the paths cleanly.

Acceptance will be based on:
• Smooth, closed paths with no stray points
• Crisp edges at 400% zoom
• Colour version prints cleanly at 300 dpi on an A4 proof
• Both mono versions pass a quick invert-test showing clear separation

If you have experience preparing artwork for laser, sandblast, or CNC etching that will be a bonus, but solid photo-retouching and vector skills are the essentials here.
