Contest Brief

We need to build a sofa bed.

Bottom seat should be flat (no incline) so one person can sleep comfortable without extending bed. When bed is extended two people can sleep.

Mattress size is 200x90cm (two mattress)

Wood is 4x6 inch (10cm x 15cm) max length 3m (9 foot long).

Wood cuts can be 90 or 45 degrees. Wood will be screwed or bolted together. No limit on how many pieces of wood can be used... stronger is better - think kids standing and jumping on it.

Ceiling is 3.1m high (cannot go higher than that). Can add shelf for books or blankets or other things.

Entries can be 3D rendered, Blender, Autocad, Sketch up, Photoshop, or hand drawn (pencil and paper). As long as the design and idea is communicated clearly.

Must submit picture showing both extended and retracted configurations.

It must be strong and able to be constructed in real life so it actually works.

Preference given to designs that are more artistic with decorative style.

We have lots of 4x6 inch (10 x 15cm) wood already - please try to use this size for most parts of the design.

I have another similar contest running called "fun kids bunkbed" - the requirements and design idea is very similar. Welcome to submit ideas to both contests.
