Contest Brief
I’m commissioning a single, high-resolution illustration to accompany an online article about the rise of violence in Tasmanian schools. The artwork needs to feel serious and somber—nothing playful or cartoonish—so that readers immediately understand the gravity of the topic.
Subject matter
• Set the scene inside or just outside a recognisably Tasmanian school environment.
• Weave in clear but tasteful symbols of violence or bullying (damaged lockers, torn notebooks, tense posture, etc.) without depicting graphic harm. Subtle visual storytelling is preferred over shocking imagery.
Style & technical details
• Illustration, not photography.
• Colour palette muted and restrained; avoid bright, cheerful tones.
• Final file: RGB, minimum 3000 px wide, transparent or layered PSD/AI plus flattened PNG.
• Include headline text Violence in Tasmanian Schools
Acceptance criteria
1. Conveys a weighty, somber mood consistent with investigative journalism.
2. School setting and bullying/violence cues are immediately recognisable.
3. Delivered on time in the specified formats and resolution.
If you have a portfolio piece that demonstrates similar tonal work, feel free to share it so I can gauge fit quickly.
