Contest Brief

I'm looking for a zine to promote my knife sharpening business. The content will include tips on knife handling, use, cleaning, and storage.

Requirements:
- Open to various design styles
- Visuals should be illustrations

Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Experience in zine design
- Strong illustration skills
- Ability to create modern, vintage, or artistic layouts

The design should be more text than graphics, and include this:

Mobile Knife (my business name)
Page 1: Front Cover
* Headline: Tips for keeping your knifes as sharp for as long as possible.
* Design Tip: Centered text with a clean, minimalist knife icon looks great here.
*
Page 2: The Golden Rule
* Headline: Respect the Edge! A sharp knife has an edge that is as thin as aluminum foil and is easily damaged.
* Content: The fastest way to dull a knife is not using a cutting board..
* Do: Use wood, bamboo, or high-quality plastic boards.
* Don't: Never cut on glass, granite, marble, or ceramic.
*
Page 3: The Dishwasher is the Enemy
* Headline: Hand Wash Only
* The Risks:
* Heat: High temps can warp blades and ruin handles.
* Chemicals: Harsh detergents can pit and corrode the steel.
* Movement: Water jets rattle knives against other dishes, chipping the edge.
* Pro Tip: Generally holding in your hand, rinse, wipe dry and put away is the best.
*
Page 4: Proper Storage
* Headline: Don't Jumble Your Tools
* Content: Tossing knives into a drawer is dangerous for your fingers and your blades.
* Better Solutions:
* Magnetic strips.
* Wooden knife blocks.
* Individual blade guards (sheaths).
Page 5: Honing vs. Sharpening
* Headline: Honing is effective in maintaining the edge, but needs to be done properly — ask us how! If you are honing and not happy wth the knife then it needs to be sharpened. Expect a knife to be sharp for about three months, depending.

Page 7: Quick Pro Tips
* The "Scrape" Rule: Don't scrape food off the board with the sharp edge; flip the knife over and use the spine.
* The Patina: High-carbon steel will change color over time. That is a natural protective layer, not rust.
* Safety First: Use the "Claw Grip" (tucking your fingertips) to keep your hands safe while chopping. Hold the knife with the Pinch Grip.

Page 8: Back Cover
* Headline: Keep it Sharp.
* Business: Mobile Knife

* Design Tip: Place a QR code leading to your booking page right in the center.
