I am looking for a structural engineer to help getting approval for an existing addition. Previous owner built the addition 30 years ago, got all permits, but did not obtain final approval. I now have drawings for a remodel of the space which entails conversion from a 500 sqft. single room with 18 windows to a 1 bedroom apartment, with a living room, kitchen and bath. The number of windows has been reduced by the architect to ensure sufficient sheer wall area. Current roof joists are oversized, but needs a structural engineers stamp in order to be approved.
