Project Description

Hi,

I am a website designer/developer who has run into a roadblock with a current site i am working on. I currently have an access database with about 25,000 business listings in Louisville, Ky. Users can search by business name or category to pull up the matching listings. All coding is done with asp and runs on windows server. You can view this results page here:

[url removed, login to view];pageid=r&mode=ALL&n=0&search=stewart

As you can see I have a map and directions link for each business listing...however these use mapquest b/c they allow addresses to be used in the application, and I don't have longitude/latitude. I would like to use google maps instead but in the database all I have is the business address. Here is what i would like this portion of my website to be able to do:

1. Use the google maps api instead of mapquest on both the map page and the directions. Again, all i have in the database are the businesses physical addresses so i assume geocoding would have to somehow be dynamically done??

2. I would also like for the user to be able to key in their address and have the results saved (as a cookie?)...then to have each listing show the distance to that business, much like on many yellow page type sites.

3. Finally, i would like the user to be able to sort each set of results to show the closest to the farthest.

Hopefully someone can help me with this request...i've done work for people on the site before but never posted a job. I just happen to be stuck on this one due to the long/lat issue and not knowing how to program the distance thing. Please help...

Thanks
John
