Project Description

Paper Topic Provide an anthropological analysis of a political movement using ethnographic sources.
I have a term paper of 1800 words due in 2 days. I will send the complete instructions once I will see a professional writer who could work on Anthropology subject:
The chosen political movement is the Zapatista movement in Mexico. Themes to explore include:

1. Response and reaction
What is the movement responding to? An aspect of globalisation (capitalism, modernity, neo-liberalism) or another movement? What are its motives? What does it oppose and what does it propose?

2. Resource mobilisation
What is the movement after? What forms of organisation and strategy do they implement? Does the movement have or has it had alliances with other groups with similar ideas and interests? How and why?

3. Identity and the politics of difference
What meaning do they give themselves and their actions. Looks at everyday banal symbols. How are multiple identities negotiated? Describe how identities coalesce around specific local meanings and representations

4. The politics of recognition and rights-based discourse
Do they seek recognition and/or access to resources from the state? From the rest of society?

5. Civil society and the state
Social movements occupy the space between everyday acts of resistance and the political party. In what ways does this apply to the movement? What movements try to achieve cannot be done by political representation of the ordinary kind. How and why does this apply to the Zapatistas? What is the movement's relationship with the state? Do they influence one another?

6. The local and the global
In what ways is the movement local and in what ways is it global? Or is it simply local or transnational? Has there been a process? How has the movement adapted?

Data must come primarily from monographs and ethnographic journal articles.
