Project Description

I have a batch of files (approximately 4000 files) in PDF form that have been named with no standard naming convention. A universal naming convention for files has been developed as policy and all the old files must be renamed to the new naming convention.

I will provide you with a key so that you will know how to name the different file types. The files are for documents for various board meetings.

The files will be named as such:

_YYYYMMDD_
...so, for example... a file for an agenda for a board called the "Board of Finance" which had a meeting on July 2, 2013, would be labeled as:
BOF_20130702_Agenda = BOF is the board abbreviation, 20130702 is the date of the document, "Agenda" is the document type.

It's best that you open each PDF in preview (rather than Adobe which will slow down your process) so you can view the document information and be able to rename the document appropriately.

Any documents that do not apply to the document type list, you can put into a folder and return to me.

The document type list is as follows:
- Agenda
- Minutes
- Notice (add an underscore to label the type of notice, for instance: _Notice_Hearing)

One board, the Board of Education, has subcommittees which should not be confused with other boards that have the same name. Please name them:
BOE_YYYYMMDD_Agenda_Transportation_Subcommittee (for example)

I will give further instructions and help explain any questions once the project begins.
