Project Description

We need all of the folowing researched with sources to cite.

a. Current waste management stats: average yearly trash tonnage produced per each American, total annual tonnage of trash produced in US, total acres of landfill space in the US, number of landfills already closed, number near capacity, number of people employed in that industry, costs associated with waste management, gallons of diesel used in transportation, greenhouse effects from landfills (CO2, methane, etc), water table pollution issues associated, biodegrading rates of different trash items, number of incinerators in US, what scrubber technologies in use currently, annual tonnage of air pollution from them, what percentage of US solid waste go to landfills, to incinerators, or get processed sustainably. Separate stats for residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial waste. Stats on what percentage of recyclable products that are produced get recycled, and recycling efficiency for different materials (and methods of recycling). Also trends of increase in waste production per household and projections for annual waste amounts compiling waste increase with population growth, projecting acres of landfill space needed, etc.
b. We also need all those stats for the world, and similar stats for sewage/waste water.
c. We need stats for Germany and other countries that have started using more digesters and sustainable methods and how that is going for them, functionally ad economically.
d. We need fuel industry stats: annual gallons of gas and diesel consumed in the US and world, and what percentage from sustainable sources. Air pollution differences between plant based fuels and petrol based (in the same engines). (Jason, you got that?)
e. We need stats showing the cost effectiveness of different feed stocks for bio-diesel and plant fuels, comparing algae and aquatics to corn, soy, canola, etc. (NREL)
f. All stats pertinent to our technology: proven effectiveness of the different parts, through time (from waste into resource), man hours needed per ton of trash compared to current methods, tonnage that can be processed per acre of land, scales for maximum effectiveness, limitations of the technology, etc (Greg, that is mostly you).
g. Anything else relevant.
