Project Description

We are a profitably-bootstrapped consumer electronics hardware start-up in Los Angeles with a number products in planning, development, manufacturing or distribution.

We are seeking a design-oriented mechanical engineer to help us get a simple, yet exciting new product idea currently in planning to prototype.

The project will require expertise with designing bracket mechanisms, hand-grip ergonomics, telescopically extending parts, and minimal electronics.

A preliminary provisional patent application has been submitted but will likely require revision based on your work for us. Thus, we will require an NDA (and all claims to any IP directly related to our project, unless a superceding arrangement is made).

Our object together will be to turn an idea into a working and reasonably-looking prototype with photo-realistic renderings of the final product. The mechanical aspect of our product is more important than industrial design for this phase, but good design skills will be a major plus, since sleek aesthetics will be absolutely key to marketing this product to general consumers.

Our current plan is to fund production on Kickstarter--this novel product fits nicely there--so there is a good chance your work will be seen widely. Upon successful completion of the project, because we don't have a full-time in-house designer, there will potentially be many future opportunities for work.

We prefer bids from within the United States, but all bids, big and small, will be seriously considered from any English-speaking person residing in any country with which the US has enforceable IP protection treaties.
