Project Description

We are looking for a senior Java programmer in the GMT + 10 time zone. The person will work on a variety of core java issues including multithreading, hibernate persistence, swing (light UI work) and general support of our system. This is a well funded project and we’re prepared to pay top dollars for top talent.

We are also hoping the person can work during our late hours (his/her morning, afternoon). We are at GMT – 6. This allows them to perform technical support and then programming during our off hours. We don’t require prior experience in our industry. The person must be able to start work at our 5PM (GMT – 6) Mon-Fri. We will require proof that the person really resides in a time zone GMT + 10 or further away so that they can comfortably perform our off-hours work.

By Senior Java programmer, we mean someone with a solid command of Java concurrency, threading, JMS, Hibernate and other advanced, core Java topics. We are not a web-commerce/J2EE firm. Our platform is ENTIRELY J2SE-based and we do NOT use a webserver (i.e.: you must be comfortable writing your own server-side processes NOT relying on tomcat, etc…).

You must have good command of English. Phone conversations will be routine. Several technical interviews required where you will demonstrate your English and Java skills.

Your first task is very simple: write a simple, command-line utility to export items from our mantis repository into an html file and automatically add to a designated wiki page (this contains release notes). This is trivial and does not require the above skills, but you will work with the team and demonstrate your ability via technical meetings during this time. We are also willing to pay $35/hr.
