Project Description

I currently have an embedded system running on RALink MIP's.

A Mini PCIe Cellular module connected via USB to the main board is acting as the WAN Link.

The system is running OpenWRT.

I have the device connected to the internet, however there is a strange problem which does not seem to happen on other routers:

Ping the WAN IP with 32 Bytes response time is about 500ms.
Ping the WAN IP with >500 Bytes, response time is about 120ms.

I have been told this problem is caused by a mixture of NAT/Firewall but no details were provided so its just a guess as far as i am concerned.

I need this problem sorted, so looking for someone with experience in cellular systems / modems and perhaps also openWRT on Embedded systems.

Please apply asap. Scope for other work for good engineers.
