Project Description

I am looking for a UI/UX guru with an eye for design to develop a UI for a Line of Business application. In this first project I am just looking to ensure the overall framework is developed, which includes the navigation and CRUD (create/read/update/delete) functionality. To support the CRUD elements we must make use of a series of controls and extended functionality (Grids, Search, Advanced Search, Validation, Drag n Drop, Security, Load on Demand, user settings and simple transitions). I have extensive requirements documentation and a working (Silverlight) prototype, but I have decided that the UI should be developed in HTML5 + JQuery et al and target modern browsers and tablets.

The basic UI ideas are inspired from an OUTLOOK shell, but I am very open to new ideas. The concept follow a principle that areas of the UI are reserved for performing certain operations, and should be easily manipulated by the user to show/hide/resize etc. to maximise the user experience. The main areas could be described simply as Navigation Area, Side Bar Area and a Main Area. The Main area however hosts a Master Detail relationship, wherein users are able to view records in a Grid and then select a record to view/edit more detail about that particular record across a tabbed panel. Beyond this basic functionality there is a degree of interaction that is required between area’s (such a drag and dropping items from a Grid into a side bar, navigating away from an area before a user has finished editing and deep links managed by hash bangs)

I have a number of future requirements for this far beyond this project, so I am looking for someone I can work with over several projects after this one. I am looking for someone who has a really good technical skillset, not a website designer able to use a set of tools. I am happy to open source, or paid for controls, provided we discuss (I am a fan of Telerik Controls, happy to pay for 3rd party controls, libraries etc.).

Please do not bid for this project without looking at the screenshots attached from SL Prototype, and be aware of all the feature requirements and technology requirements. I am not looking for a CMS or re-themed brochure-ware website. I am keen in features being lightweight, and good code re-use. I am quite technical myself so happy to be used as a soundboard or give direction as to preferred technologies and I am a big fan of agile development.
I am not a big re-inventing the wheel, but I am not a big fan of using bloated frameworks/libraries when all we need to 1 particular piece of functionality from it.
I do insist on the code being tested, ideally automated tested code. I understand that this can be hard when only developing a UI, but be aware all interactions with the server is expected to be performed through restful web API’s, so therefore this can be mocked out.

Technologies
BUILT USING: HTML5, CSS, various javasvript libraiues (JQuery, [url removed, login to view], Telerik Extensions of MVC, Kendo UI). If you require a thin layer between UI and Web services, please use C# (MVC). If you are required to write in anything other than HTML 5/JScript please use C#.
TESTS: SpecFlow using Selenium webdriver for tests.
DESIGN: Happy to by icons, or have them designed by winner, provided the UI looks good. General design should be using CSS; Happy to Target a very reduced set of browsers, but be aware I want to be able to view the appliction on a tablet (read-only, no need to complex interactions).

Additional Files Available upon request.
I have a fully functional Silverlight application (with source code)
I have a full set of videos which expalins all functionality of the Silverlight Application in -depth
A full list of specification documents for the original Silverlight Application.
