Project Description

This website, Maui Delights, is an introduction to things you can do in Maui. It connects merchants n Maui with potential customers. It is an attractive professional-looking website that invites people who are planning a vacation on Maui to consider the many offerings Maui-based merchants have. The home page includes colorful photos of Maui scenes. Each photo represents one type of attraction on Maui. Beneath each, there is a label that indicates that the type of attraction the picture represents. Both the picture and the label serve as a link that takes the user to a more detailed page about that type of attraction. Each of these sections have additional pages beyond the section overview page. The section overview page will have editorial content about that section and will link to a variable number of subsidiary pages where the individual merchants display their ads.

The links are:
Hotels
Bed and Breakfasts
Apartments and houses for rent
Time-shares for rent and sale
Luaus
Restaurants
Natural Wonders
Bicycling
Horseback Riding
Dinner Cruises
Ocean Adventures
Surfing and Parasailing

The web site needs a simple administrative interface that allows content management as merchants begin and stop their advertising.

There is also a page where tourists can sign up for the monthly newsletter, and there will be a link to it from the home page.

There will be a merchant sign-up page, too. Using this form, a merchant can order an ad for the site. The merchant will be able to start or stop an ad using this page. The merchant can upload a JPG, BMP or GIF file that is the content to be displayed in this ad.

Besides these display ads, there will be a section for classified ads, which are text ads grouped into categories. The classified ads are available to anyone. There needs to be an administrative utility to define (that is, add or remove) categories (classifications) for the classified ads.

All code in this project must either be public domain (open source) or be written by the programmer. No pirated code is allowed. The successful bidder will be required to sign a certificate or originality and will indemnify the purchaser in the case of violations of originality.
