Project Description

Call for Proposal developing Facebook Event Search Application

1. Overall Concept

The application is required to search Facebook for public Facebook Events matching defined categories. The output will required to be in a .html page, a .csv format file and an RSS feed. The application is intended for web usage and it will be hosted on a server so it needs to have a web interface.

2. Application Specifics

a. General Architecture

i. The application will be hosted on a non indexed webpage and should be protected by authentication procedures

ii. Further details on hosting location will be provided on project commencement.

b. Input.

i. The application will be required to search Facebook events on the following fields. Each of the following categories is to have its own input field:

1. Keyword – input to be a range of keywords. This will give the ability to search on defined terms on the name, description, location, venue fields of Facebook events.

2. Geographic Location – input to be a geographic range. This will give the ability to search on latitude and longitude ranges. (i.e. search on all events located on latitude range between x and y and longitude range between x and y).

3. Time/Date Range – input to be in date and time format. This will give the ability to search for events between defined times/dates, specifically on the fields start_time, and updated_time.

c. Output

i. The output of the search should include these events feeds: owner, name, description, start_time, end_time, location, venue, privacy, update_time in addition to a count of all event connections in the invited, attending, maybe and declined connections fields

ii. The primary delivery method will be a on a web page, displayed in a table and with a hyperlink for each event’s Facebook page

iii. The secondary delivery method for the search outputs will be in a Comma Separated Values ([url removed, login to view]) format, downloadable from the webpage

iv. The tertiary delivery method for the search outputs will be an RSS feed available for each unique search. The creation of such a feed is not necessary for each search, but should be included as an option. We appreciate that there may be volume or rate limit restrictions imposed by Facebook with reference to this capacity, and would welcome guidance on this point.
