Project Description

Purpose:
I am the IT Manager for a company with several web properties and I have way too much work on my plate. I've convinced my bosses to outsource this project to update the look of the following website: [url removed, login to view]

This website hasn't been updated in almost 10 years and needs a facelift. This should be a pretty simple project (no need to reinvent the wheel).

Our primary concern is to make the website more attractive.

Overview:
This project has three parts:
1. Completely new layout to make the site look modern and attractive.
2. Incorporate new content that we provide.
3. Code the website in PHP using a template we will provide. (super easy to follow - see attached)

Detailed Description:

1. New layout:
We are looking for a modern and attractive layout that reflects our business and brand. We have a fair number of photos of our operations and people but you may need to supply stock photography to fill in the gaps. We need to keep the logo as is but everything else is changeable.

This project will have the following 14 pages:
home
about us
buy wholesale trees from us page (a product selling page)
buy retail seedling sales page (like to our retail site with some text)
services page (points to our services website with some text)
nurseries pages (one main page with six subpages (one for each tree nursery))
client login page (either a page or a login form somewhere in the page shell). Everything behind the login page is outside the scope of this project.
contact us page

Layout:
I am looking for a simple layout with a vertical menu on the left side of the page. This will be a simple static menu (no submenus, no animations, no accordian features, etc.)

2. New content:
We are working to update the content and we will provide it to you in finished form. It will be your job to make that content display nicely in HTML.

3. Code in PHP:
We have our own templating system that we use for all of our simple websites. We would like you to use this system to build our site. (The existing site is programmed in another system and will be replaced by this templating system.) I have included the PageClass and an example page to give you a feel for what we are dealing with. The basic idea is that each page on the site loads all the content for that page into the PageClass and the PageClass takes care of the header, menu, breadcrumbs, footer, etc. Super easy!

The person we choose to do this project will get a zip of an entire website done in this templating system, which can simply be modify it to match the design of the new site.

Your code must run on PHP 5.3 on IIS 7. If you follow the template, you will have no problems.

Other details:
We are not concerned about conversion optimization, SEO, or clever copywriting. We don't want any flash, jquery, or flashy javascript on the site. I hate rotating banners.

Make the site look great and we'll be happy!
