Project Description

I'm working on a plugin that has a custom post. This custom post is associated with another entity on the database (database table) that contains the template that the custom post will use to render on the front-end.

I have used the template_include & template_redirect filters to capture the moment when this post is about to be rendered on the front-end, but I have found no way to test the type of the post a front-end request made using: $wp->query_vars, $wp_query, $wp, etc. So what happens is all the post types get the behavior meant only for the custom post type.

I think there is a rewrite issue, but I entered all the correct parameters when I invoked the register_post_type function.

Since this project is confidential I cannot give the source code, what I need is assistance in finding a solution quickly so I can:

1- Check the type of post being queried on the front-end, if the query is for this custom post type then
2- Get the custom post meta fields, (one of these fields has the template id of the other related table)
3- By having this template id (from the custom table) I can then get the template contents and then
4- Generate the custom post using the template saved on the database table.

This person will just be with me on a chat session on Skype, you would not need to write the code, I will do that. I just need assistance in finding the issue. I know a seasoned Wordpress developer would know how to solve this problem very quickly.

Please if you are not familiar with Wordpress or have experience with Wordpress for quite a bit of time, please don't bid. I'm expecting to solve this problem in no more than an hour (or less).
