I need to have some software product/website reviews written that will follow a certain format. I will give you the urls and product names. Here is a rundown of what is needed, with made-up examples:
1. Basic "what is it", plus any major sub-features:
Example: "The Shopping Cart" is a shopping cart program that has modules that can be used to set up your own affiliate program, plus it will show your adsense ads.
2. Anything unique about it? (different from others like it)
Example: This cart shows customer reviews - right in the cart!
3. How's the Support?
a. Actual support options:
is there a forum? is it active? lots of answers from admin? or not?
other forms of support?
b. Your impression:
what is your impression of the offered support (or lack of it)
(I can show you a site that has super-excellent support, and another that is just a
statement saying how much they will help you, with an email address. Some sites don't
even have any contact info!)
4. Pros and Cons:
Whatever you think is a really good point about the product.
Example: The affiliate program add-on is a great feature. It saves you from having to go
buy another program. also, the cart has nearly every shipping option you could possibly need.
Whatever you think is not good about the product.
Some product come right out and tell you their cons, like one says "if you are not
comfortable making tweaks to the code, then this version isn't for you". another says,
"this program is a good shopping cart, as long as you don't need complicated shipping
options." (I think that shows great honesty.)
Look for things like that. Or maybe for something like a steep learning curve. Or too expensive for what it does.
5a. features (your ideas):
Try to sum them up in your own words - like what you like about them or don't like. Or which ones you think are pretty important, or which ones make the program a good buy.
5b. features (cut and paste from site):
there is usually one or more bulleted lists of features on the site. just copy them. but
be sure to mark them clearly as being from the site.
6. Your overall impression:
Your own words on what you think about the product overall, the support, the features, whatever.
sometimes there are several prices, usually based on the licence (example: 1 site, [url removed, login to view], unlimited sites [url removed, login to view]) sometimes the price is just FREE.
1 site only? more sites? is there a developer licence?
You can write the price/licence as:
1 site - [url removed, login to view]
unlimited sites - [url removed, login to view]
dev licence - [url removed, login to view]
[url removed, login to view]: do they offer a refund? How many days?
10. trial: is there a trial version or trial period?
11. anything else of interest about the product?
I will give you the url to the product. You will poke around the site gathering
information. Think as if you were going to buy this product, and you are researching
several different companies that offer it, and trying to make a decision on which one
will be the best.
The review doesn't have to be perfectly written. Something a little more than a rough draft would be good. It will probably be rewritten to some degree. But don't just copy from the site (other than the list of features). Summarize what they say, and give your opinion.
I'll give you 2 products to start, just as a trial run to see how it goes for both of us. So please bid on 2 reviews. $30 is the lowest price I can choose, but the winning bid will be much lower than that.
