Project Description

Hi

I need someone who has worked with Ruby and Puppet. Puppet basically allows someone to write a script--> that script then sets up a server with software of your choice, like App Server, Database server, and so on (Virtually anything can be done in Puppet).

Your task is simple-- create Puppet scripts for some combinations of Operating System + Container or Hypervisor + App Server+Database Server.
I have most of the scripts I require, but for few scenarios I need you write some scripts (not more than 10 scripts).

One example-- Linux (Ubuntu [url removed, login to view] x64) + VMWare VSphere+ (within VSphere)-> Tomcat 7 and MySQL

OS's targeted--> Linux-- Ubuntu [url removed, login to view] (32 and 64 bit) and CentOs 6.3(32 and 64 bit). Windows--> 2008 Server, 2012 Server, Mac OS X-> last 2 versions of regular OS and MacOS X Server.

Containers/hypervisors--> Parallels Container, Virtuozzo, OpenVZ, LVM, VSphere, Xen, few others.

App servers--> last 2 versions for most major programming languages (I have a list)

Database servers--> MySQL, PostGRESQL, SQL Server 2012/2008. MongoDB, CouchBase, Oracle, few more

For regular OS installs of most servers I can give you puppet scripts I already have. The scripts that I do want are for the following scenarios--

(1) Install different containers/hypervisors like Virtuozzo, OpenVZ, LVM, Xen, Parallels Container, and others over Linux/Windows/Mac using Puppet scripts.
(2) Simple document explaining how to install a app server like Tomcat into the server running on container or hypervisor. And how a puppet script for such a purpose will differ from a puppet script used for installing the app server directly into OS (without container/hypervisor).
(3) Very few scripts for some types of app servers for which I dont have scripts.

The first 2 points above are essential.

This work is very easy for a programmer who has worked with Puppet before. Hence I dont expect bids of more than $60-80 for this work.

Yours sincerely,
Arvind.
