I need a native speaker to translate an arcade/puzzle game to German. Volume: approx 600 strings, of which about 100 are near copies of some other strings (like "Earn 50 score" and "Earn 100 score"), so it's roughly 500 unique strings to tranlsate. Plus you should account 1-2 hours for playing the game itself to make sure you understand what you are translating. Plus 0.5 hours for final check.
The task is in the attached zip. Fill in the translations into your language into the correct column.
Please do NOT change the order of the lines, do not edit the English or the Russian strings. If you find an error in English strings, please let me know.
Cells with gray background don't need to be translated.
Some of the strings (mostly descriptions of achievements) mention the name of the game mode. Don't tranlsate it because the same english name is used inside the images in the game and is not localized.
Do not translate the name of the game.
For names of combinations in Poker mode, if you have never played real Poker (it's a cards game) please read up on the exact terminology for your language on Wikipedia.
The length of the strings should be not more than 30-40% longer than the English variant because these strings will have to fit into their places inside the game and may be cut off if they are too long.
Trasnaltion should not be 100% precise. It should just convey the same meaning and look appropriate in your language. Also attempt to keep the humorous parts if that's possible and feel free to adjust/rephrase the jokes so that native speakers of your language undestand them. Please also attempt to stay politically correct according to the laws or cultures of the countries which speak your language so that I don't get sued for something I couldn't event know.
Don't use Google translate. It's easy to detect and I'll not accept the translation if you do.
Some strings you will be able to understand only if you have played the game for a while. E.g. if you translate instructions to a game mode, please make sure you try that game mode out and understand what you are translating! There is nothing worse than if you don't fully understand what you are translating and attempt a generic meaningless translation - the players will be confused just like yourself. If you aren't sure about something please find the usage of that string in the game (the ID of it in the left column may help) or just ask me!
Inside the game, you can quickly get to any game mode, quest or cutscene from "testing screen": press Test button on start screen.
There you can try any game mode, set progress of quests and unlock game modes or items. While playing, press W to instantly win a level.
If you have any suggestions for improvements of the game or re-phrasing some of the English strings to make something better understandable or anything, feel free to tell me since that's valuable feedback from a fresh audience to me.
Download the game here (Windows version or Mac if you have only Mac): [url removed, login to view]
Roadmap: i accept the bid, you download the game and play it for half an hour to see what it's about, translate, send translated strings and description to me, i pay for 1st milestone, add your translation to the game, upload the game and let you know (please tell me if you're using Windows or Mac so that I don't have to update both too often), you download it again, reset it (Test -> "Reset game" in the top-right corner), play it for half an hour again to see if any string is too long, has typos or is not appropriate in the context, you report everything is ok, i release money for the 2nd and final milstone.
