Project Description

Need someone to fix the poorly functioning search page and results.

There's two types of search on the site-

** AJAX Search (work's fine not the issue- I've been able to weight results myself)
** Main search (upon enter key, taken to a search results page.. if it's not broken, it's just an awful set of results.)

I require someone with Expression Engine and onsite Search engine experience to make the Main Search usable and relevant.

hxxp://unmad.co.uk/search/results/search&keywords=red%20letter%20days/

**weight towards the titles so that an exact match appears first..
**some basic relevancy (as opposed to displaying everything.)
**paginate the results in case e.g. the keyword 'holiday' might have 100's results so perhaps using the 'load more' banner from other pages would be ideal. e.g. bottom of [url removed, login to view]

What may be causing difficulty is that the pages span across multiple 'channels', and that I think the channels are being checked in order... meaning a more relevant page may be underneath all the less relevant pages from another channel

**articles channel (what to wear),
**deals channels (top 10 fashion coupons),
**merchants channel (dedicated page to each fashion e.g. GAP)
**links channel (the links for each merchant which dont need to be in the results as feature inside the other channels)

The other issue is to ensure that the CSS from the article doesn't leak through (e.g. h1, h2 titles)... Given that there's some expression engine custom coding that is used, simply switching off the CSS would expose the code. I'm guessing some custom CSS on the search results page could make the header tags blend in with the regular text.

I would prefer someone experienced in Expression Engine, as it should be something you may have dealt with before.
I don't think this is a massive piece of work at all for someone who knows their stuff. I want it done quickly and perfectly.

Many thanks,
Dan
