Project Description

We want a website with all the features required to run an online Minicab office, in London.
We currently use a third-party booking engine, which provides most of the features mentioned below, save for an interface with our desktop cab management system.
Initially we want a low budget website with one or more of the features listed in the specification below.
The most important aspect of the website for my company is that it is connected to our office cab management system, called CMS (developed by Vital Soft).
An interface can be established with our office system through an API in either XML or JSON format (see requirements list, below).

Specification:
Interfacing to CMS
- The website is to interface with the application CMS via the internet using XML or JSON as communication language.
What we want is that, once a booking has been made and payment has gone through (if paying by card),
that the details of the booking be forwarded to our cab management system, CMS.

Hosting
- We would like to host the website on our current web-host, BlueHost. They provide both PHP & MySQL services,
as well as JavaScript, Python and SSL support, just to mention a few.

Multiple Store-fronts
- As we have a number of web domains, we would like the capability of using different designs for the different domains.

Booking Engine
- We want to use Google Maps to calculate our fares.
- We want to use an AJAX approach of obtaining the customer information,
something like in this website: [url removed, login to view]
- We want it to blocks any unreasonable journeys, e.g. From Scotland to London
- Limits user to only pay by card when pick-up location is far away (Optionally where this distance can be set by us)
- The fares are to be set in the content management area (see below)

Payment Portal
- We have applied for the Barclays online payment gateway, to use with CMS.
We would like to use this gateway for the website as well.

Content Management
- We would like all page text to be fully customisable.
- We would also like to be able to view and edit the metadata of each page for SEO purposes,
e.g. Meta keywords, Meta description, etc.
- We would need an area we we can add/edit our prices. This is to be separate from our prices on CMS
- Fares - We ave two ideas for this part
- 1 - Using CMS
- Get prices from the CMS and store on a local database
- Prices only get updates/retrieved from the CMS when required, i.e. by a button press
- Special prices for Airports
- Special offers, e.g. 10% off during Easter
- 2 - Creating a new Price Calculator
- Distance tariffs, to calculate prices from specific post codes,
e.g. base office to anywhere or N7 to SE10
- Different Fares for different types of cars, from anywhere to anywhere, per mile
- Special prices for Airports
- Special offers, e.g. 10% off during Easter

Google Services
- As mentioned earlier, we would want to use Google Maps for our booking engine
- We would like to use Google Analytics to analyse our websites traffic
- We would like Google Translate integrated to the website, as we have international customers

As most of the heavy work mentioned is done by other systems through API's, I have classified this project as a simple project.
