Project Description

We would like to design a Textbook Rental/School Help website.
We would like to design a website where textbooks can be rented. This website would be very similar to Chegg and textbookrentals.com. We want this website to have a search function where students can search for textbooks by name, author, ISBN number, subject of book and other key words. For each of the textbooks shown, there needs to be a table where it allows the student to see and select one, of various options. These options are the prices for renting the particular book for different lengths of time, and also the “Buy New” and “Buy Use” options, with their respective prices indicated as well.
Now, because this initiative may be used in Africa and online payment isn’t yet efficient and/or common, we would like to include an option of integrating a wallet system. In this initiative, the student would deposit some money into the website’s dedicated bank account and they would get the equivalent amount of their money’s worth in points and they can use this points to buy or rent books. This of course does not preclude the necessity of including the options of paying with normal credit cards and Paypal.
There should be a sign-up page where students can point out what they’re studying, if they’d like to be Tutors and in which subjects.
Each student/visitor needs to have his/her own account page where they can see the books they’ve rented, recommendations for books, an Inbox, how much is in their wallet, reviews of books that they’ve given and adverts. And when other students/visitors click another students name, they should be directed to a limited viewing of the students profile either on another page, or as a pop-up.
For each book, the site visitor must be able to click it to see a short bio: Name, a picture of the cover, ISBN, authors and edition. Then a Summary, price listing, reviews and list of similar books.
We would also like a tab for “Homework Hub”, where students can ask questions on various topics and get answers from other students. This topic forum should have options of subjects. It should also have the option of a keyboard that has numerous mathematical functions and notation et al. Each question can be asked to the General public or it can be asked to a specific tutor, and that tutor would be given a notification. Students can also opt to be notified when an answer is given to a question, and would get a message in their box. People must be able to comment on specific answers and vote on these answers.

This is the most fundamental functionality of the site. We would discuss with the developer for random additions like color, design etc.
