Project Description

Hello All,
My clients are looking for a website to launch their business idea. For the last few years, they have conducted seminars teaching workplace survival strategies covering 20 topics. They have decided to convert these 20 topics into pdf presentations/reports and sell them online. Basically, someone can choose any or all of the 20 reports and add them to their cart, pay for them, and download immediately. This is similar to a typical ebooks-type transaction. We do however have a “wish list” for the site:

A simple/clean setup with an integrated Blog and a large focus on SEO techniques

Full Content Management capabilities, so that we can add/remove reports and each report's information page, and make other changes and corrections as needed

We have heard a lot of good things about websites on the Wordpress platform for Blogging, SEO and CMS, and would like to explore the possibility of using it but are open to your expert opinions

All blog content posted simultaneously on our Facebook, MySpace and Twitter platforms in this form: (Title + some text + [tiny]URL back to blog)

When visitors post/update comments on the blog, we want to be able to approve it beforehand and once approved (and if possible), then have them post simultaneously on our Facebook, MySpace and Twitter platforms as comments under the original post

A search bar should be included on the site

The home page will display all of the reports and there will be an individual description page for each report. We will start with 8 reports and add the other 12 monthly.

One idea for the home page is this: ([url removed, login to view]). We like the sidebar on the right which we will put the “about us” info, FAQs, and testimonials. This also displays the reports vertically along with an overview, price and # of pages. Each listing should also have “add to cart” and “more info” buttons. If possible, we would like to have them add to cart without leaving the home page. Maybe a pop-up that let them know the report has been added.

Another idea for the home page is this: ([url removed, login to view]). This displays the reports traditionally but when you put your cursor over each one, you get a pop-up with the relevant info. We still want “add to cart” and “more info” buttons.

The “more info” button takes them to each report's individual description page. We would like something like this ([url removed, login to view]) mainly for the feature that lets them let their friends know about the report via email, twitter, and facebook (maybe this feature can be on the home page as well). They also get a listing of the other reports to click through and an opportunity to buy in packages.

The shopping cart page should also give them a listing of the other reports to click through and an opportunity to buy in packages.

This purpose of the site is to gain visitors and convert them into buyers. If you have online marketing knowledge and know what works with attracting people to buy, we welcome your ideas.

The site should of course have a shopping cart with the capability to accept both Paypal and regular Merchant Account payments. Let us know what we need to do in this regard.

We would also like to have secure downloads so that the reports cannot be re-distributed without purchase.

The site should work across all browsers (including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, & Opera), operating systems (including Windows, Macintosh, & Linux), and maybe cell phone operating systems as well (iPhone, Android, iPods, iPads, Blackberry's etc)

We would like the website to load as fast as possible, so any unnecessary add-ons that will slow it down should be avoided

Finally, this is only a wish list. Some of the things we want may be unnecessary and/or may make the site too expensive. We welcome your input. We're anxious to have the site up ASAP. Some sort of mock-up would be helpful.
