Project Description

This project relates to a data logger for a hybrid drive test vehicle. It is an automotive (truck or car) “on the road” data logger project using a pc (laptop), labview, arduino and arduino shields and readily available robotic boards only.
The project will be divided into 4 phases and will be paid as such. The deliverables are the labview VI’s, connection diagrams and the arduino sketches. The project can be done with most of the coding on the arduino using projects listed per section and just the results sent to labview but preference will be given to a project that programs the arduino FROM the labview VI
The key evaluation points are: 1) labview plus 2) arduino mega and 3)standard shields pololu or adafruit or sparkfun but preference will be for shields from [url removed, login to view] ( The local distributor in my country)
The design is not limited to a single arduino unit, but there may be speed and timing issues, but then the communications between the boards must be included in the project
Phase 1:Basic vehicle tractive forces and speeds Measure three shafts speeds, vehicle IMU data and sned to data card and display on labview in real time
a) There are three shafts (-6000 to +6000rpm), we need to direction and speed. The suggested method is quadrature encoders, but open to suggestions. c) all data to be logged at least at 5 hz, preferably 10hz write shaft speeds, shaft direction and all IMU to csv file on arduino shield but ALSO display all the speeds ( gauges and numeric suggested ) and all IMU data ( bar graphs and numeric suggested in labview in realtime)


Phase 2: measure other devices:
d) add 10 analog 0-10v signals
e) add 10 digital signals
f) add accurate timing of the fuel inject operation time. This will require a highly accurate timing library to measure the time of operation of fuel injectors.
