Project Description

Meeting friends sometimes involves turning up or going round barefoot, often with the dirty feet posted onto a blog later. What if we could wear shoes with no tops and sides?

The Make Friends Shoe is made from composite rice pulp and dyed, natural rubber glue. Moulded from a foot imprint into modelling clay, the composite is built up and then slats are cut from it for flexibility as well as to form stretch points for foot-hugability.

What we need now is the stretch joints. My idea is to use long strips of natural rubber (black vulcanised) and weave them into studs or pads as well as the stretchy joints themselves, held in place through holes in the composite sole. This is your job if you choose to accept it and the work and materials will be shortly recompensed at reasonable cost of several hundred USD plus the design shared for marketing/manufacture in the west coast USA.
