Project Description

Hello,

I need a simple app that does the following:

1.) scans a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number, exactly 17 digits) through a OCR process so that the letters and numbers out of the VIN can be detected by the app automatically. If the detection is not 100% possible by the app the app should ask the user to retry or type in manually. When creating this scanner have a look at this site:
[url removed, login to view]
2.) Directly after scanning the VIN the app forces the user to scan (also OCR again) the mileage (maximum 7 digits) of the same vehicle. As for the VIN: if the app is not able to scan and detect the mileage reading it should ask the user to retry or type in manually. I expect in most cases it should not be necessary to type in manually (same for VIN).
3.) When both steps are done the information has to be send to a mysql database prepared by me.

It is not required to publish this app in the app store.
I will provide the login data for the mysql db.
Code should be readable, understandable and with comments(!). An extra detailed documentation is not required.
There is an existing objective-c library for OCR programming, so you can use it if you want.
Have a look at the attached file. It contains some VIN examples.

If the app is as expected and working fine I am looking forward to work with you long-term.
Please do not hesitate to ask question. I am happy to answer them.

Thanks.
