Doppler and Dubbs Animation ident brief
Doppler and Dubbs is a new, London based company that will be launched this year. We specialize in sound design for film, TV, animation and smart media applications. Using our collective experience and skills the company will offer the full range of sound post production services to the media and entertainment industries, including Foley, ADR, V.O, Sound Design and Mixing.
The website to support this company is currently under construction, and it will be activated this year with a supporting animation on the homepage. We are in need of an innovative animation sequence aprox. 10-30 seconds in length to serve as a company ident to give the website some exciting audio/visual content before the show reel page is activated. This piece will also be viral, so will be sent out within company emails, and hopefully spread throughout the dominant social networking sites to create buzz and brand awareness. It will also promote the company and the chosen animator in parallel, with full on screen credits shown. I am hoping that this first animation will develop into an exciting new working relationship upon which new work can be undertaken in the future. If successful I would like to continue this campaign and create a whole series of animations.
I am myself not an illustrator or an animator, but I am currently working on concepts and roughly storyboarding the animation to kick start this project, and therefore need a talented and ambitious animator to help me carry out this venture. The key factor for this project is that the animation needs to be in a style that is fitting for the aesthetic and branding of the companies website – as shown above. Our look is crisp and monochrome, with a hint of a classic era style. I shall need to see examples of previous work to ensure that this brief is carried out to certain design requirements.
Style for the animation: Simple black and white
In terms of work load and budget I also think this approach is the most suitable for this project. I found this image from an application that tracks the movements of birds. It’s a good example of the kind of look I am going for, and I can see it meshing with the company’s logo really well. The animation will be set in this white background or environment, and the animated character could be rendered with black lines similar to this. Simple though it is, I consider this image to be the starting point and the inspiration, but I am open to and actively encourage development and expanding on this. I am positive that the well- trained mind and imagination of a keen animator could offer up some interesting new ideas that I haven’t yet considered!
This is how I imagine the animation to look, a linear style making up the outline and detail for the character, the land speeder and the horizon. So in conjunction with my slides you should have a good idea of how to approach this. Needless to say this is a mute animation with no sound, we will add this element in post.
I look forward to hearing from applicants, and thank you for your time.
