Functionality of the end Product:
A Facebook app that gets the user's messages from Facebook, analyses them and computes certain statistics (this part is already done). Once the statistics are known, the user can select a friend or themselves and browse books that were matched to their writing style, filtered by genre etc.
Build an AJAX Web application that works as a front-end to a Web Service which is already in place. We will provide a REST API to query the server. A typical request sends the user profile and language (e.g. german, english or dutch), to which the server responds with a set of records representing the matched books (ISBN number etc.).
Information on the books (cover image, description, year, language, price etc) should be obtained from external sources (google books, amazon etc.) client side and added to the book description. Additionally, links to shops (i.e. Amazon, [url removed, login to view] & Book Depository) should be fetched and added with our affiliate number, arranged by price. The layout will be according to the attached mock-up. The final Design will be provided as CSS from an external designer once a rough version of the Web application is ready, but we also welcome any of your ideas regarding the user interface.
