Project Description

Inherited a Water Taxi, ASP .NET Web Site that uses Telerik controls. Client requires changes to a) administer new multiple flexible surcharges and b) implement them automatically with new bookings.

The current BookingConfig page supports 1 Out of Hours Surcharge amount and start/end time (through out the whole year) and a table to apply a surcharge percentage loading on a particular date in the future. And apparently the current surcharging isn't being applied correctly - sorry don't have any more information then that.

My clients are simple and require a simple elegant solution by creating surcharges in a new maintenance form and saving them all into a single table with start/end date/times. The current User Interface is a tad ugly, any work spent improving either the code or the user interface would be beneficial although not critical to this project.

Currently the bookings email don't show surcharges and the client doesn't feel the need to start now. However if the booking admin screen could show (read only) any surcharges for the journeys current begin/end date/time when the "calculate" button is clicked, that would awesome. Would also help you and the client show the surcharges are working. I'm hoping that this code is also used, when customers enter quotes into the system, so they'll get a total price inclusive of any surcharges.

The only other spanner in the works, is there is a mobile version of the code which I haven't tested. Don't worry about it at this stage.

The solution uses [url removed, login to view] 4 (don't mind if it is upgraded), Telerik, Entity Framework 4 on Visual Studio 2012 and connects to a Microsoft SQL Server 2010 database.
