We are an enterprise dealing with IT services (consulting, maintenance, support, sales, etc) and have an internal software programmed in "classic" ASP which is on our local server running Windows Server 2003. That softare's database is in Access format. This software is used by our staff to manage IT services from start to finish. We have our customers' information in there with every service call details and many other important information which we use daily. Our technician's schedule is in there and is sync'ed with Microsoft Outlook so our technicians always get on time on their service calls. It is a very important software for many aspects of our company. That software was programmed by our ex-collegue which died a year ago and we are stuck with his code and have no coding skills. We would like, first of all, to migrate our software to Windows Server 2008 R2 but, according to our ex-collegue, the software is stuck on 2003 because it uses an outdated version of IIS which is not supported in Windows Server 2008 R2. The software is working without any major problems as of now but if it were to stop working we would be in a very bad situation and our 2003 server is getting old. Our ex-collegue which programmed the software was not an expert programmer so I don't think the code is 100% standard, he probably used google a lot to implement features. We would like to shut down that 2003 server and use only a 2008 r2 server.
The first thing we want to do is transfer from 2003 to 2008 r2.
Next, maybe on another project, we would like to update the code to something more common like ASP.net.
Lastly, in yet another project, we plan on adding features to this software if that is something possible.
