I have a dancemat that lays on the floor and is plugged into 2 USB connectors of the PC. I have found software that lets me emulate the keyboard with the mat. I can assign any key value to the spots on the mat and they will appear to the PC as key presses. I have created a number of outdfoor hiking trail videos and I want them to be controlled by my walking, that is when keys are continually pressed the videos roll at the speed I created them, when the key presses stop the video pauses where it is. It seems simple to me, well it seems like it would be simple to an AS3 programmer. I can't figure it out. The videos will be .FLV files on a local hard drive. I would like to use the number keys "4" and "5" for the walking. It seems to me that since when you pause you will be standing on the keys, maybe the program should be activated by "Key Up". Also, if the hiker should leave the mat for more than a 2 seconds the video should also go into pause.
There is a little more to this project, but, I would like to see if this works and how it looks before I move on to the next phase. Just be aware in your design that I eventually want to count steps and be able to branch to a different trail (switch to different video) at the end of a video. Is it possible? How much? Thanks!
