Electronic Forms App - iPad/Android/Windows 7

PROJECT: The project is interested in developing an application to provide ease of electronic data capture in a form/report-based interface for an automotive testing team. The testing team sometimes has a high volume of vehicles needed to be checked in and out, visually and mechanically inspected, and tested. The specifications of tests performed on these vehicles are later reported. The solution will be a simple application that will replicate paper forms, reduce the amount of time it takes to populate these manually, and give the testing team more time to spend on actually testing each vehicle. The interface is to be tied to a back-end relational database structure (small scale) where records will later be searched by the team – also to be viewed in form/report format. The raw data is to be captured in spreadsheet format with capability to export/upload complete files (i.e. .csv files) [Capability to be uploaded into web database is optional. Details to be later discussed with developer, as HIGH DATA SECURITY would be a MUST.] The application will have forms for data input and reporting, the capability to link more than one image, taken with the tablet/iPad/android camera, to each record, several control types, including two types of controls for free-hand stylus data capture: one over an embedded image, and one to capture a hand signature. The application will also be capable of user profile creation to allow access, record insertion/editing, and data viewing. Embedded images with company name and logo will also be used on each form or report created/produced by the application. It is necessary for the forms to be customizable (i.e. layout, logo, data fields, etc.) Main Application Components: • Vehicle Check-in/out Sheet • Vehicle Information Sheet • Test & Weather Condition Info Sheet • Control types: o Auto-generated Form# (specifications for naming convention to be later discussed) o Text Fields (conditionally-active text fields included) o Yes/No check boxes o Drop-down menus o Date fields with drop-down calendar o Save/edit modules o Free-hand stylus data capture frames Over embedded image “Hand” signature Comments • Relational database structure tied to form view (small scale) o Tables, fields, and data type definitions to be provided upon project agreement DEVELOPERS: - Platform is open to best solution, but a solid/reliable tablet is in mind. - Include reason for chosen platform. - Be prepared to provide completed projects/solutions/apps for review (related or unrelated to this project) and/or download at the app store. - Keep in mind there are many relatively inexpensive solutions already available. These can easily be found in any search engine. What will make your solution unique? More efficient? Any suggestions on unique features are welcome. - Some specifications are flexible, but other are necessary. - Overall, it should be simple solution.
