Looking to have an animated logo ident created. This will be a combination of CGI and After Effects.
I have attached a rough mockup of the animation. Basically it's on an alien planet. The scene will open as the camera travels forwards over some rocks and slowly pans up to reveal two astronauts looking up at some kind of ancient alien structure. The ground starts to shake and there's a rumbling sound (I'll take care of audio) and then dust and debris starts to fall from the structure revealing the logo. One of the astronauts points at the logo as it's being revealed, and his hand obscures the logo... just to give a bit more depth.
The only real 'animation' is the movement of the camera, the astronaut pointing (and it would be nice if they are just finishing walking up the edge of the ledge as they are revealed), and the dust and debris falling to reveal the logo.
The thing is, I want this to be a template rather than a video, so that the logo can be replaced with different logos. The plan is to use this for my clients and also sell it on VideoHive. If you have experience selling templates on VideoHive then that would be good, but it's not a deal breaker.
So all the CGI stuff will need to be pre-rendered. The astronauts will have to be rendered out separately with alpha channels so that part of the footage can go on top of the logo layer to obscure it. The dust and debris that falls off the structure and the logo part will need to be created in After Effects. So I'm thinking Particular or Pixel World. That part will have to be pre-rendered as well, so that people who don't have Particular can still use it.
Needs to be created CS5 or higher. I have CC, so I can open any version. I'm just thinking if it's in CS5 then more people can use it.
There will be a bit more range of movement with the camera than in my mockup, and it should end with the astronauts looking up at the structure rather than straight ahead. Ideally the astronauts will have more of a modern design, the planet will look less Earth-like, maybe some planets in the sky etc. Possibly some clouds or mist to add a bit of depth. Want it to be very atmospheric.
I'm going to get an artist to sketch a design for the structure, the one on the mockup is just an image I borrowed. If you do that kind of thing as well then let me know and I can set up a separate job. Let me know how much that would be. If it will make it cheaper then we can probably get away with using a matte painting for the background layers. Let me know a price with and without. I can hire a separate artist do do that, but once again.. let me know if you can do that and what price difference it will make.
Optional addition would be a shot facing one of the astronauts and you can see the logo and structure reflected in a black glass helmet (can't see his face).
Doesn't need to be 100% photo realistic, but it does need to be impressive and not 'cartoony'. Needs to be all your own work and no stock models so it can go on VideoHive.
As people will be using different logos, the debris and dust that reveals it needs to be procedural. Some kind of effect to make the logo look in-keeping with the structure would be good as well. Maybe a bit of destruction round the edges, some dust and dirt on it, colour correction to make it in-keeping with the scene etc.
Optical Flares for the sun would be nice as well. Needs to be 15 seconds or less, but closer to 10 seconds would be nice. Can it be done in 2K? If not then 1080p. So just to clarify...
1. One 10 to 15 second CGI sequence
2. That sequence split into two layers, background and the foreground
3. After Effects file for the overall project where the logo can be added
3. Dust and debris reveal built in AE and needs to be procedural
4. Any Particular or Optical Flares layers need to be pre-rendered.
If you have any examples of space-type CGI stuff you've done before, that would be great to see.
