Create a simple customized user front end for the media content system "Plex" ([url removed, login to view]) that will be run on a singleboard computer like the Intel NUC that will be mounted to the back of a digital signage display and connected via HDMI, preferably running Linux. The interface should navigate the individual sections like the existing plex app, and display the metadata stored in the plex database and contain a search function. The interface will be controlled via an RS232 panel (using a RS232->USB converter/keyboard emulator connected to the NUC). No modifications to the Plex server should be made. Full HD video and stereo audio should output from the system via the NUC. The project should be designed to restrict all administration options and settings on the NUC away from the end user and are only accessible through a hidden back menu. If the system is restarted, the OS should boot straight into the application, with no operating system interaction required. There is no need to mask or hide boot screens or linux boot screens. An example of a possible layout style is attached, but specifics can be given in more detail. It will be quite a simple and minimal layout, but the logo should have the ability to be changed easily by the administrator. Assistance can be given with graphics work for the project if required. You may need to provide some information regarding the NUC/Operating System configuration. We require the project to be completed by early to mid November 2013.
