I am looking to collect 3 audio recordings of 3 separate persons reminiscing about their past.
Our aim is to collect and share oral histories of individuals from different parts of the world.
Here are the deliverables we seek:
Each recording should be 2-4 mins long.
The interviewees can be any member of the community but at least one of them has to be older than 60. A mix of genders and backgrounds is preferable.
The recollections of the interviewees can be about anything/anyone, but they have to be of a moment of their past that particularly stands out to them (school, childhood, parents, holidays, first job, struggles setting up their business, war, etc.)
The interviews need to be of high audio quality, and so use of a voice recorder is required.
Be conscious of keeping ambient noise and interruptions to a minimum.
Images that relate to the audio recording have to be scanned (300 dpi) and sent alongside the recordings. These could be old photographs of the person as they were at the time of their recollections, old photographs representing the moments they are recollecting, memorabilia surrounding the moments they are recollecting, any other relevant images.
A minimum of 1 photograph per 15 seconds of audio recording is required (i.e. 8 images for a 2-minute recording, 12 photographs for a 3-minute recording).
A short description of how the images relate to the audio shall be used as the file name (e.g. ‘Photo of interviewee with his family before he left for the war’).
3) Contextual/Historical Information:
3 or 4 sentences of contextual/historical information will accompany the recording in a separate word document. e.g. if a person is recounting his/her childhood in the 30s in the US it might be appropriate to specify that ‘The 1930s in the US was characterised by the great depression and economic uncertainty…’
