OS X daemon for power management monitoring (2)
- Status Closed
- Budget £750 - £1500 GBP
- Total Bids 8
Create an Apple OS X daemon compatible with a well-known commercial workstation power manager monitoring protocol.
Initially only basic protocol compatibility is required. If the project is successful, cost-effective, well written and well documented then it is very likely we will ask you to extend the software to include additional features in the future.
We would like to build a long term relationship with the right developer. The ideal bid will be from a developer with a proven track record of OS X development. We would be happy to discuss these requirements with any interested developer and answer any questions.
Power Manager ([url removed, login to view]) allows power management related information to be logged on a per workstation basis. This
information may be used to understand the usage profile of equipment, create a tailored power management policy and monitor the on-going effectiveness of that policy. The current software is Windows only.
We would like you to develop a Mac OS X compatible monitoring agent. The agent will be used for data collection only. Information is collected in an anonymous format that cannot be used to identify a specific user or the activity the user is performing. The information is uploaded in XML format using the industry standard HTTP POST protocol. The PowerMAN protocol document explains in detail the information collected and how it is uploaded.
We require you to develop a basic OS X daemon compatible with the PowerMAN protocol. The daemon should launch at start-up, collect a limited subset of the supported information, store it locally, and periodically upload it to a compatible server. The daemon shall be capable of manual installation and configuration by the user via a UI. It shall also be capable of automatic deployment and configuration via third-party deployment tools. A test server will be
provided for you to test against.
We require the following deliverables:
1. Software meeting the detailed technical requirements
2. Deployment package in .dmg (or similar) format
3. Basic usage and installation documentation
4. Full source code with sufficient instructions to re-build the software using Xcode 4
5. 90 days support by email to resolve answer any outstanding questions / bugs
Full payment will only be made on verification of these deliverables. Please see attachment for full details. Further technical information / Q+A available on request. We would be happy to discuss these requirements with any interested developer and answer any questions.Get free quotes for a project like this
