Bluetooth Power Relay

Overview:

A Bluetooth relay with two 120V 60hz power outlets, Outlet 1 and Outlet 2, can be turned On / Off remotely with a Bluetooth iOS App. The two outlets will have two independent relays, Relay 1 and Relay 2, that can switch the power on and off to turn power on and off on Outlet 1 and Outlet 2.

The Bluetooth remote will transmit a Bluetooth signal to a Bluetooth receiver located on a relay board. The Bluetooth iOS transmitter will contain three buttons. On reception of one of the three Bluetooth button signals, the relay board will then send the corresponding signal to a micro controller that will perform relay switching logic. If button 1 is pressed on the Bluetooth iOS app, then it will turn off Relay 1 for 5 seconds and then turn on Relay 1. If button 2 is pressed on the Bluetooth iOS app, then it will turn off Relay 2 for 5 seconds and then turn on Relay 2. If Button 3 is pressed on the Bluetooth iOS app, then the logic will turn both relays off. Then after 10 seconds it will turn Relay 1 on. Finally, after 40 seconds, the logic will turn Relay 2 on.

Relay Process For Button Press 1:

1) User presses button 1 on the Bluetooth transmitter.

2) The Bluetooth receiver receives the signal.

3) The Bluetooth receiver sends a signal to the micro controller.

4) The microcontroller then signals to turn off Relay 1 for 5 seconds

5) The microcontroller then signals to turn on Relay 1

Relay Process For Button Press 2:

1) User presses button 2 on the Bluetooth transmitter.

2) The Bluetooth receiver receives the signal.

3) The Bluetooth receiver sends a signal to the micro controller.

4) The microcontroller then signals to turn off Relay 2 for 5 seconds

5) The microcontroller then signals to turn on Relay 2

Relay Process For Button Press 3:

1) User presses button 3 on the Bluetooth transmitter.

2) The Bluetooth receiver receives the signal.

3) The Bluetooth receiver sends a signal to the micro controller.

4) The microcontroller then signals to turn off both relays.

5) After 10 seconds, the micro controller turns on Relay 1.

6) After 40 seconds, the micro controller turns on Relay 2.

Requirements:

The Bluetooth relay shall plug into a 120V 60hz and provide power two Outlet 1 and Outlet

This Bluetooth relay shall also be a surge protector.

This Bluetooth relay shall rated to the US rating of safe power regulations to power 2 outlets: Outlet 1 and Outlet 2.

The Bluetooth relay shall be controlled with a Bluetooth transmitter with 3 buttons which map to 3 different relay operations as explained prior in this document.

Deliverables for the Project:

1) Electrical Schematic for the Bluetooth receiver, microcontroller, the Relays controlling two 120V 60hz outlets with US safety ratings.

2) Design of the PCB with the Electrical Schematic. This deliverable should be ready for a placement company to manufacture the product. The PCB Design should fit in the smallest form factor possible.

3) Part list that includes inexpensive parts for the manufacturing of the project. These parts should be readily available in high surplus from popular online electronic outlets such as digikey.

4) C code with the correct logic to handle all three button presses from the Bluetooth transceiver that will perform the required logic as discussed earlier in this specification.
