- Automatically add these pupils/classmates to a table with the pupils grade and area of development.
- Export this information to Edexcel via email.
- Significantly reduce the time teachers spend on writing up feedback to pupils.
The Application will allow Teachers/Pupils to easily assess their pupils/peers performance at Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4 [GCSE]), through a range of areas, with a few taps of the screen. The app will significantly reduce teachers workload by having feedback of pupils work already word pressed without ever having to write or type a single letter or word. This app will also increase pupils assessment for learning (AfL) skills by involving them more with the assessment process, in a fun and interactive way.
Currently, there is only one app on the market that attempts to assesses’ pupils grades in education. However, this app simply allows the user to set-up a group and manually enter what each of the pupils grade is using a slider. You can then email this information. However, it doesn’t make assessing pupils/pupils assessing each other any easier than doing it with pen and paper.
In addition, it doesn’t use any criteria’s, therefore there is no assessment for learning (AfL) if teachers want to use the assessment with pupils. This also means that the teacher will not only have to carry the tablet around with them, but also a piece of paper with any criteria’s that they might be using. Not ideal at all, particularly when teaching a practical subject like PE, Drama, Music or DT. Also, the app is not user friendly due to poor design of navigating menu’s and setting-up groups. Finally, the app doesn’t solve the problem of teachers having to write-up the feedback up once they’ve given the pupil a grade.
The target Audience is Teachers. Teachers have to write lots of reports of their pupils all the time. They have to constantly give feedback to their pupils on how to improve. This is essential for pupils to develop their learning. However, this can be very time consuming when it doesn’t need to be. Teachers’ currently assess pupils in class, making a few notes, then after the lesson, log on to a computer and write up the feedback to each of the pupils in greater detail. Alternatively, teachers have pupils assess each other and write up the feedback at the end of the lesson or in the next lesson. This strategy is useful, but ultimately, the teachers still need to write up their own feedback to the pupils.
The app has an even more specific market than just teachers solely; Teachers’ of practical subjects. For example, when teaching Phys Ed, the last thing a teacher wants is pupils with pieces of paper trying to write down what grade they think their partner is and why. The assessment sheets often go everywhere and the whole process can be time consuming and sometimes counter productive. Also, standing around with a clipboard outside trying to write notes on pupils performance can be very difficult, particularly when it’s cold. Consequently, the accuracy of the grades given can often reduce.

2- To make assessment more accurate for teachers who teach practical subjects.

4 – To make an App that is the go to option for teachers when they are carrying out assessment.
