The project will create a utility that reads 'source' WAV files to create a 'destination' WAV file (44,100hz, 16 bit, mono). It will read a text file with a column of numbers between 0 and 255. The end user will have a set of 255 (source) wave files. There are three user inputs. The first user input is the name of the text file. When the action is performed, the text file is read and each number in the column directs the utility to copy a the first few milliseconds (how many milliseconds is the second input) For example, if a text file has a column of three numbers and four milliseconds is given as the length for each section copied, 125 000 250 Then the destination wave file will have the first four milliseconds of a file called '[login to view URL]', followed by four msec of a file called '[login to view URL]', followed by four milliseconds of a file called '[login to view URL]'. The destination file will be twelve msec long. This is a single function utility that will be used to create complex wave forms. The third and final input will be the name of the destination file. In the vernacular: The utility has a field labeled: "number of milliseconds". It 'browses' to the text file (a column of three-digit numbers). Each digit tells the utility which file to copy that number of milliseconds from, and paste it into the destination file. This should be a very cheap and fast utility to create. It's essentially a wave file 'copy and paste' utility. Other projects, also concerned with processing wave files in batches, will be offered to the programmer who successfully completes this one. It does not need to be pretty. It only needs to work. This is a good project for one who is at the beginning of their career, and wants a repeat customer who works with wave files. Other formats, such as mp3, will not work. Wave files only - 44,100, 16 bit, mono.
