I am looking to develop an application that will employ the Microsoft Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS).
This is going to be offered to clients who have remote users who access internet over a satellite system. I am looking at developing something that the client (on the remote system) can select files and mark to download during offpeak times. This is typically going to apply to ships at sea. The downloads will probably be movies - so file sizes will be quite large, but will also have other smaller files for other services requested onboard.
The need to download during offpeak times is to ensure that ships main business takes priority, and these other files are downloaded at quieter times.
So I am asking for anyone who has experience of this Microsoft service to indicate how they think this could be achieved, and any possible pitfalls.
The shore user should be able to log on and also edit/add files marked for downloading to the ship.
