The client owns a hotel. The booking engine stores reservations data in a Pervasive Database that runs on a local server inside their business.
Currently the hotel is using a web based service that sends their guests an email right before they arrive and also sends an email right after they check-out of the hotel. This is all done by using "arrival and departure dates" from the pervasive database.
As far as I can tell - the service that is currently being used, basically does this:
A application .EXE runs on a local computer and it connects to the Pervasive database. It scans the records of the booking engine database about every 15 minutes. It finds changes creates a DBF file or updates an existing one in a remote folder via FTP's to a remote server.
The remote server reads and imports these DBF files to another local DB and the web application sends out messages based on arrival and departure dates.
The web based system handles sending the guest emails right before they arrive and also send the guest emails right after they check-out.
Here is what I need. It think it should be easy in theory.
I need a utility that connects to the local pervasive database, looks for changes and outputs the changed data into a file and then uploads that file to a remote database. We can discuss this in more detail through PMB.
