I'm looking to have a magento store built from scratch to include custom modules, plug-ins and theme.
SCOPE OF SITE
The site will display “deals” (products) on offer from health & beauty businesses each complete with a datepicker calendar which will indicate available dates and time-slots for said deal.
I am proposing to buy a pre-built module for this purpose and it may be seen at the following url.
[url removed, login to view]
There will be a homepage/profile page for each business which will display information about the business plus the deals which they are currently offering.
A Supplier module will be required therefore.
The system will need to search and sort deals according to their type, calendar and stock availability and their coordinates.
The system will store a list of Counties/States and a list of Localities contained within each. Each locality will be represented by a set of Lat & Long coordinates.
When a user visits the site his geo-location will be accessed with permission. The homepage will load with 4 selectors in the top part of the page whereby the user may create a search.
Selector 1 will be preset to CURRENT LOCATION
Selector 2 will be visible but greyed out.
Selector 3 will be preset to TODAY
Selector 4 will be preset to NOW
There will be a SEARCH button.
By simply visiting the homepage and selecting SEARCH the system will therefore return a set of deals that are;
a) Sorted by proximity to the user
b) Available on today’s date
c) Available within the next say 60 minutes
d) In stock
Alternatively the user may click or tap on Selector 1 and a list of Counties will be displayed. Having selected a County then Selector 2 will be populated with all localities contained by the County. The user will select a locality and the system will retrieve the coordinates for that locality from the system.
The user will then choose a date from Selector 3 which will be presented as a datepicker. The user will then select a suitable time from Selector 4 which will display a list of times eg 09:00, 10:00
Selecting search will display products based on those custom search terms.
A product list page will be displayed. Each product will display a price, a minimum order quantity, the name of the business, the address and the distance from the users actual location or selected location - see above.
On mouseover or tap each product panel will reveal the deal description and a book now button.
On clicking Book Now the user is taken to the product detail page where further details will be visible plus a datepicker calendar.
The shopping cart will be bypassed and upon clicking “add to cart” which will be renamed “Confirm + Pay” or similar, the user will be brought directly to the checkout process.
Other modules required will include one page checkout, google analytics, social login, site optimisation, payment gateway integration and possibly more.
The site will be designed to be responsive at at least 4 breakpoints.
All design and art work will be supplied.
I have asked all those developers who have placed bids on this project to discuss with me their capabilities and recommendations with regards the the geolocation features of my proposed site.
Below are a number of additional questions which I would greatly appreciate answers to in order to help me choose a final developer.
Many thanks to all who have given their time to contribute thus far;
We need to do a supplier profile page which shows the location of the premises plus the deals that they are offering.
We also need to search and sort individual deals from all suppliers according to location.
How would you propose to store the coordinates required? Do we identify the location of the supplier and correlate it with their products/deals? or do we store the coordinates for each and every deal and each and every supplier even where any given supplier may be offering more than 1 deal?
2. I expect my customers to be 50% on mobile, 30% on desktop and the remainder on large and small tablets.
What breakpoints do you recommend for the responsive design?
What special optimisations would you employ to ensure that the all but especially mobile user enjoys a speedy response from the site?
3. What proposals, if any, would you have regarding the bulk import of products allowing for the calendar/stock based profile of the virtual product?
4. As I expect users of this site to book 1 deal per visit (ie. buy 1 product) I am thinking that it might be a good idea to bypass the cart page and go straight to checkout. Do you have any comments?
5. I would like customers to have an immediate view of deals which are available at A) Today's Date, B) Within 60 minutes of the Current Time and C) Nearby.
Allowing for the fact that the site must first ask for the user'spermission to use their location, can the homepage display this set of results automatically?
I hope the above questions make sense. Please feel free to ask for clarifications using the messaging service,
