OVERVIEW
------------------
This project will involve taking some (longitude, latitudes), and then in ArcGIS joining them to a series of shape files I will provide (you should have a copy of ArcGIS version 9.3 or 10). All scripts as well as the output files will be submitted.

(i) ArcGIS Shape files (see: [url removed, login to view])
-WY: 2003-2010 (separate files for each year)
-NE: 2000 (separate files for USD, SCSD, ELSD)


(ii) Files to spatially join (see: [url removed, login to view])
There will be 50 files to join. There are three kinds of files and I list the number of each which will need to be joined below. The full list of files will be uploaded after the project is accepted and begun.

(iii) Final output
- for each file, the WY shape files should be spatially joined in ArcGIS. There will be variables for each year 2003-2010 and I will send along labels for the variables after the project is accepted.
- for each file, the NE shape file should be spatially joined in ArcGIS. There will be variables for USD, SCSD, ELSD and I will send along labels for the variables after the project is accepted.
- after the sample files are processed, these should be submitted for me to review. Work should continue to be submitted as it is completed
- the final files which include the joined variables should be:
(a) in CSV format
(b) renamed as:
FirstPass\_[states+years]\_[year-month].csv
SecondPass\_[states+years]\_[year-month].csv
Airportfile\_[states\_years]_[originalname].csv
where:
* FirstPass are files of the first format from the sample files in (ii): [url removed, login to view], N=23
* SecondPass are files of the second format from the sample files in (ii): [url removed, login to view], N=23
* Airportfile are files of the third format from the sample files in (ii): [url removed, login to view], N=4
* [states+years] is "WY2003-2010" for all files except the ones which also get the NE shape files in which case it is "WY2003-2010+NE-USD-SSD-ESD"
* [year-month] is the year and month of the file, e.g. "2003-04" for the first two sample files in (ii)
* [originalname] is the original name of the file (except the extension) for the third kind of sample file in (ii)
(c) need only include the following columns from the original file in additional to the new ones from the spatial join.
