I am in the process of creating my website at www.madflex.com. At this point I have a working user database in PHP and MySQL that is functioning properly with twitter/facebook-esque status updates on each member's profile page. Although I understand the concepts of the coding, I would like some help with the more detailed parts of the site. These areas require help.
1. I would like to have a basic forum coded that would work dynamically with the user's profile. For example, I would like to have 25 bulletin board ranks based on post count, and a bulletin board rank image to also show on the persons profile page that would automatically update. In the past I have used phpbb, but I always managed to mess up the scripting when I tried to customize it.
2. I would like to integrate a section similar to facebook "poking" on the part labeled "shout outs" on the profile page of my site (you will have to register a user name to view). this would be a basic function where user#1 could visit user#2's profile page, click a button, and it would list user#1's name in the appropriate section. i would possibly like to make this more advanced and have a few choices of actions to choose from, where it would list the name, and the action next to it in a different color.
3. I would love to have user comments incorporated into the existing status updates, except in a separate color to differentiate between the status updates by the owner, and the comments left by the visitor.
I'm confident that I'm knowledgeable enough about mysql, php and flash to explain things that are necessary, but I'm not confident enough in my informal training to troubleshoot my way through the things above.? I am the sole owner of the website, and I like to think I'm easy to work with. Thank you for taking the time!
My website is hosted through [url removed, login to view] and I do my uploading via cPanel. I currently have two working database tables for status updates and member information that are working fine. I ran through a 25 part video tutorial at [url removed, login to view] that got me to where I am right now. I can take care of all the graphics, I just need the functionality and uniformity.
